The
Kirkwall
Scroll (a Power Point presentation)
Because it has been cited as
evidence in support of the alleged connection between the
medieval Order of the Knights Templar and Freemasonry the
Kirkwall Scroll has recently come to prominence. This
artifact, the property of Lodge Kirkwall Kilwinning, No.382,
(Orkney), has been described as a ‘Knight Templar treasure
map’ which proves that the Holy Grail was transferred by
them to Rosslyn Chapel.
The history of the scroll
will be explained. This presentation will use computer
images of the scroll in order to closely examine and discuss
the artifact’s function. Particular reference will be made
to the symbolism and meaning.
Important Notice
The number of questions I received regarding
the Kirkwall Scroll whilst on the ANZMRC lecture tour
convinced me that a detailed examination and explanation of
this famous Masonic artifact required to be provided. It
pains me to say that a really detailed analysis of the
Scroll has never been freely available to Freemasons. For
this reason I have devoted an entire chapter in the book:
The Rosslyn Hoax? to this most fascinating
Masonic artifact.
